Hailing from Philidelphia, Mississippi in 2003 Alicia James felt like up rooting to Houston, Texas would be the right move for her career. And if you ask me, she was right. Since then this young lady has planted roots here musically with her company SMR Entertainment, dedicated to helping up and coming artist better understand the business and market themselves and her own projects as an artist as well. In 2004 James suffered a terrible blow in losing her mother a year after she moved to cancer. But Alicia took that and set the under ground music scene ablaze.

I have personally sat and watched Alicia hold her own at a show called Front Line that was put together for under ground Hip Hop artists to show case their skills. When Alicia started singing the rowdy crowd calmed itself and gave the sultry soul singer space to get her music heard. Us being the type of magazine we are, we definitely have our eyes and ears to the underground music circuit and James' voice is in heavy demand.
